Growing Strawberries Indoors
Strawberries belongs to my favorite fruits. I like them so much, I can eat Strawberries all day but here we can find Strawberries only in spring.

I am thinking to grow Strawberries in pots in my city garden. In plot I have more space but I can’t grow them there because of watering. I can’t go in my plot so often.
I don’t know how to grow Strawberries so I search some info via internet. I found in diy-guides.com that there are three main categories of garden strawberries:
- June Bearing – which produces one large crop annually during the spring
- Everbearing – produces 2 to 3 crops during the spring, summer and fall
- Day Neutral – produces continuously throughout the growing season
I am thinking to search for some everbearing varieties. If I can have Strawberries in summer and fall it will be perfect for me.
As I can understand I can plant some Strawberry plants in autumn because I live in warm Mediterranean country.
In the same site described the method for growing Strawberries Indoors. I had no idea that Strawberries can grow indoors and it was very helpful article for me.

Hi,
I have strawberries also at my plot and I dont water them at all. What rain does thats it – and its enough! They are also producing fruit all year long (May – October) and the secret is that you need to cut older leafs and this makes them bloom.
Check my blog to see (its in croatian, but link “jagode” will take you to strawberries posts – at least you can check the pictures…). Looking fwd to your future posts.

I don’t agree with a lot of things in that DIY guide you linked to, I suggest looking for some other sources of information too.
The one thing about strawberries is they don’t like heat. Heat is not a problem for them usually, but they will stop producing berries until it cools off. It’s very difficult to grow strawberries in the tropics, and you may have a hard time in your climate.
I have a nice white alpine strawberry I could send you seeds of if you were interested:

They should grow fine indoors, you will get a continous harvest as long as it is not too hot and you keep them from freezing. If they freeze it’s no problem, the tops will die off and regrow. If it gets too hot they will start producing when it cools down.
Don’t give them any fertilizer! They won’t need any.
The thing about these kind of strawberries is they never give you a big harvest. You will get a small handful every few days. If you want a big harvest, you need to have a lot of plants. The berries also don’t keep well, you usually need to eat them within 24-48 hours.
Do you want some seeds?
