Do you know this flower?

We have a really beautiful plant here in the city. My mother love it and take some seeds 2 years before from a plant which saw somewhere. She start the seeds and now we have 2 big plants in containers. The flowers are really big about 20-30cm but they last only 1 day.

This is Hibiscus coccineus. I just wrote about it on my blog two days ago. This is one of may favorite plants because of the deep red color of the flowers.

Oh, first I thought ‘hibiscus’, but those leves made me little puzzled. ‘Coccineus’ – this is great to have fellow gardeners that are blogging and are keen to help :)
It looks amazing. That contrast between flowers and leaves is amazing.
    Greetings,

  • That’s a fantastic flower…I didn’t know this variety of hibiscus before, but the flower looked similar to one. Coccineus. I’ll have to remember that, it’s just amazing. Oohh, seeds…

(Sorry I’ve been away a while, Mary. Can’t wait to go look and see what you’ve been up to!)

@easygardener when I have seeds from the plant I will contact you
    :)

@Ewa the contrast with green is really amazing. This year the plants are bigger and we have more flowers from last year. And yes it’s great to have fellow bloggers gardeners. My greetings

@Greg no need for sorry. We are here and read blogs when we have time. The summer is difficult for blogging.
    :)
I don’t think I can send seeds in USA from EE but maybe you can find some seeds from there. I search for this flower and saw that grow in USA.
You are always welcome in citygarden

@kim when I saw the flower blossom for first time I stay with my mouth open for many minutes
    :P
