You can find pots flooded with beautiful flowers in many colors in any flower shop and nursery or at farmers markets.
In Greece some people use the name “agiodimitriatika” for chrysanthemums because they bloom in late October and at 26 of October we celebrate the Saint Demetrius Day . He is the Saint of my city and 26 of October is day off here. The same day we celebrate my city liberation from Ottomans.
But I start writing for chrysanthemums so let’s continue. This month you can see chrysanthemums everywhere in balconies and gardens. The municipal gardeners care to plant chrysanthemums in parks and squares, you can see the bright colors of a chrysanthemums everywhere…
They took their name from the famous botanist Linnaeus who created the word chrysanthemum from the greek words “chrysos” (gold) and “anthos” (flower/bloom) so the name chrysanthemum remained in botanical classification to remind us something from Greece, although the origin of the plant is not from Greece but from China.
Chrysanthemums propagated easily by cuttings and they don’t need so much care. They love the sun so make sure to have your plants in sun every day and don’t watering very often because the water will rot their roots. You know your plant feel thirsty when the leaves starting to hang down.
So if you don’t have chrysanthemums in your garden yet, it’s time to grow one.

Good to see you posting again! Very interesting post, too. Chrysanthemums are lovely at this time of the year, but here in France they are only used for putting on graves on All Saints’ Day on 1 November. It seems a shame that they have sad associations, because they’re so pretty. I’m glad you make happier use of them in Greece!

@chaiselongue goodmorning! Usually I don’t like to blogging the summer and the autumn I must blog more in my Greek blogs beccause of summer pause
In Greece we have cypress in graveyards usually and for this reason you will not find them easily in gardens. As for flowers we offer carnations when someone die.
